There are numerous benefits – practical, emotional and financial – to enlisting the services of an experienced interior designer.
Firstly, an interior designer gives you practical support. As well as fresh ideas, they offer invaluable industry knowledge and ‘on-site’ assistance to take the stress out of designing your work or living space.
Secondly, a professional interior designer will act as a sounding board for your ideas. Oliver’s clients appreciate his honest, unbiased input as it helps them to gain clarity about their vision for their home.
Finally, an expert interior designer could save you money in the long-term. Their experience can often help you avoid common pitfalls, such as over-ordering, not adhering to building regulations, or not using the correct tools.
An experienced interior designer provides so much more than their creative expertise and eye for style. They remove a great deal of the stress from your interior redesign by taking on a project management role, overseeing budgeting, sourcing items and finding quality tradespeople.
Their in-depth knowledge of materials, techniques and use of space can prevent you from expensive mistakes, helping you make the right decisions first time around.
We often hear ‘interior designer’ and ‘interior decorator’ being used as interchangeable terms, when in fact they are two very distinct fields.
The role of an interior designer is both an art and a science. It calls not only for creative flair, but also an ability to develop technical solutions that meet the functional and structural requirements of a client’s living or working space.
An interior decorator on the other hand, focuses their efforts on using furniture, soft furnishings and other decorative items to create aesthetically pleasing interior spaces.
We think the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) sums it up best with their definition that states: “… interior designers may decorate, but decorators do not design.”
As a company, we take pride in our timely, efficient and responsive approach to our work. The timescales involved in each project will depend on the size and scope of the property.
To be able to give you a precise timeline for your home, we would need to look at a variety of factors, such as the number and types of rooms to be redesigned and whether architectural alternations are needed. Other considerations which may affect timescales include whether we are designing new furniture, any restoration or rejuvenation requirements for existing furniture and lead times for the specific materials required.
Due to the unique nature of each property that we work on and the individual needs of our clients, it is impossible to give a ‘standard’ cost for the services we provide. Our prices are tailored to the specific requirements of each project that we undertake. Contact us with your requirements and we would be delighted to discuss approximate costings.
Yes, absolutely. Oliver has previously completed work all over the UK, as well as further afield, for example in South Carolina, USA. He is happy to travel to wherever a client may need him. All we ask is that you cover any travel expenses in addition to his design fee.
Of course. Working with Oliver Steer is a very collaborative process. His aim is always to create a home that you will love for years to come so careful consideration of your personal style and preferences is a crucial part of his design process.
Oliver is not here to dictate, but rather to work with you to achieve a finished result that you’re delighted with. Before getting started, we will arrange a meeting where you can share your ideas, inspiration and influences, as well as letting Oliver know about any key features or furniture that you want to include or enhance.
