Traditional Case Study 1

For this project Oliver Steer Interior Design was required to address several rooms in a Victorian property. Considerations included the display of a substantial collection of antiques and art within a formal hallway and dining room used for the entertaining of up to 10 guests, as well as designing a more pragmatic solution for the kitchen and study that was empathetic to the formal areas.

Careful technical drawings were produced to assess the functional requirements and the placement of the art collection and antiques with Oliver collaborating with a lighting engineer to ensure the correct levels and positioning of light for the artworks and to create the right ambiance.

The newly introduced furniture, fabrics, and colours ensured harmony in the scheme and provided the perfect backdrop for dinner parties and family occasions. Details such as a French braid used on the curtains was repeated on the wallpaper to great effect and new pieces were carefully sourced, including new dining chairs fromParis that complemented the existing collection whilst providing greater ergonomic comfort for the client.
